Igor’s original compositions not only draw inspiration from the Jazz idiom, but other genres such as Classical and Rock. Igor moved to Germany in 2012, to dive into Berlin vibrant jazz scene. He has attended prestigious Jazz Institute Berlin where he was studying with a renowned jazz guitarist Kurt Rosenwinkel. Among his other teachers were John Hollenbeck, Greg Cohen, Kalle Kalima, Gerard Presencer, Geoffroy De Masure, Tino Derado, Guilherme Castro and Javier Reyes. During his studying Igor has also been awarded with Deutschlandstipendium and JIB-Jazz-Preis der Karl Hofer Gesellschaft 2015 (Bondarev/Osypov Quintet). Igor’s been playing concerts and taking part at festivals all over Europe both with his own band and as a sideman. He is not limited within the genres, but plays mostly jazz – although, all kinds of it.
Both his tunes and his playing tend to be really emotional and complex. The influences of highly raged musical interests made Igor’s music intellectually developed but still clear for all kinds of audience.
Shortly after arriving in Berlin, Igor founded his Quintet, featuring some of his favorite musicians from all over Europe and the USA. Since it’s inception, the Quintet has performed at festivals all around Europe including the Copenhagen Jazz Festival in Denmark, Burghausen Jazz Woche, HFM Jazz Preis, Xjazz Festival and Maggie Black’s Jazz Rub in Germany, Jazz nad Odra in Poland, Jazz Bez in Ukraine and Poland, Alfa Jazz Festival in Ukraine, Bergamo Jazz Festival in Italy, Jazz a Montauban in France and many others. Has worked with Kurt Rosenwinkel, Logan Richardson’s SHIFT, Nasheet Waits, Tech N9ne, Josh Ginsburg, Wanja Slavin, Greg Cohen and many others. In the summer of 2014, Igor Osypov recorded his debut CD with American saxophonist Logan Richardson, which came out in the spring of 2015 on Unit Records.
In spring of 2016 the second album entitled „Dream Delivery“ came out on
For-Tune. In 2018 Igor became a member of Logan Richardson’s newest project „Blues People“. The self-titled album came out in the same year and received critical acclaim. It was named among top three jazz albums of the year by the NY Times.
In 2019 Igor was awarded with the prestigious Elsa-Neumann grant.
– Yonatan Levi was born in 1986 in Tel-Aviv, Israel, where he displayed musical tendencies since infancy. He began classical guitar training at age 7 and finished his studies as a music major. At age 13 he was awarded a scholarship for classical stand up bass studies from the Israeli Conservatory of Music in Tel Aviv. By age 16, after turning his attention to Jazz, Levi was playing with some of Israel’s Jazz greatest; Amos Hoffman, Amit Golan, Avishai Cohen and others. He was honored a full scholarship to the prestigious Berkeley College of Music.
In 2006 he moved to New York City and immersed himself in the New York Jazz world, playing alongside numerous celebrated musicians including Frank Wess, Ben Dixon, Eddie Henderson, Harry Whitaker, Killer (Ray Appleton), and Donald Harrison. He spent 10 years in New York City playing continuous gigs at the city’s legendary venues, collaborating with local and international musicians and becoming a fixture in the scene.
– Ivars Arutyunyan is a musician and drummer coming from a small and beautiful country near the shores of Baltic Sea – Latvia. It’s there where his first musical steps were made – singing at the age of 2 and moving on to studying classical piano at 6 and classical percussion at 14, which led to discovering the power and beauty of improvisation and playing drums. Ever since it has been a fully dedicated path which has led him to international success and opportunities to learn deeply about himself, different cultures and power of music.
Despite his young age, throughout the years, this energetic, dynamic, original and deeply sensitive drummer has had opportunities to perform and tour with many legends of jazz music as well different artists across the globe such as Greg Osby, Seamus Blake, Logan Richardson, Carsten Dahl, Tomas Franck, Jerry Bergonzi, Jesse van Ruller, Francesco Cafiso, Aaron Parks to name a few. He has appeared on numerous radio and TV broadcasts and with various ensembles he has played festivals, concerts in countries such as China, Tanzania, Greece, Netherlands, France, Belgium, Austria, Sweden, Norway, Switzerland, Spain, Lichtenstein, Czech Republic, Germany, Denmark, Poland, USA and the Baltic states. Different awards include internationally acclaimed contests like Jazz Hoeilaart (B Jazz), Getxo Jazz, Almeria Jazz Prize, RMC Scholarship, ‘Yamaha Drum Day? etc. Ivars is graduate of Rhythmic Music Conservatory in Copenhagen and recipient of their scholarship give to him by Danish culture minister in 2014 for his achievements while living in Denmark. Today he’s performing and touring extensively and is one of the most sought after drummers coming from Baltic countries.
